Textbook collection

Students have two textbook collections at their disposal – one at the main library, one at the subject library at Inffeld campus. Both collections supply several copies of textbooks which are in high demand. The collections are shelved by subjects and freely accessible. Textbooks may be borrowed for 60 days. If you wish to suggest new books for the library please send an e-mail to service.bibliothek(at)tugraz.at.

Loan periods for diploma and doctoral candidates

Students of TU Graz who are currently working on their theses are given an extended lending permission, thus being admitted loan periods of three months and being allowed to borrow up to 25 items.

Students about to take their diploma thesis who apply for this status have to enter the (temporary) title in their personal card in TUGRAZonline under "theses". Students doing their PhD thesis get the extended lending permission automatically.

Journals

We provide a great number of internationally renowned journals in the main library’s serials department on the 1st floor. Issues of the current year are shelved in the serials reading room. The last ten years are freely accessible as well. Older volumes must be requested at the library’s circulation desk on the 3rd floor. At the subject libraries and institutes of TU Graz additional specialized journals are located and can be read during the respective opening hours.

Journals can be searched for by title in the online catalogue. Best results may be obtained by limiting the search to "Journals and journal-like publications" via the "Catalogue subset search"-button. Please note the traffic light symbols in the result lists. They indicate availability of electronic resources and allow direct access to e-journals. By using the Teilkatalog Zeitschriften und Serien (special catalogue for journals) of the Österreichischer Bibliotheksverbund (Austrian Library Association) you will not only find journals stocked by TU Graz library but also titles stocked by other Austrian research libraries.

The Library – A place to study at

Reading room 2nd floor (access via 3rd floor)

In this reading room you find basic literature as well as reference books on technology and natural sciences. To guarantee all time access to these books, borrowing is restricted to very short periods (overnight or weekend). There are also workstations at your disposal.

Reading room and open stacks on the 4th floor (access via 3rd floor)

In this reading room you can find a non-lending collection of about 40.000 volumes on architecture and civil engineering. There is also a training room which students may use free of charge. The technical equipment is ideal to discuss projects, for study groups and for work groups. For reservations please refer to the circulation desk on the 4th floor. Before using the training room for the first time, you will be given a short briefing by a member of the library staff.
